The surgeon just came back and told us the this part of the surgery went exactly as he had expected. He re-opened the wound and pull out as much of the infection as they could and then they hooked her up to a medi-vac. This is a vacuum system that she will keep on for at least a few days perhaps a week or more that will keep sucking up any moisture and infection. The doctor expects her to remain in the hospital for 4 to 5 days. Then special home care will be arranged to change the vacuum thingy and do more of the same on the new surgery site.
She still has an oxegyn tube down her throat and they plan to keep her asleep for the rest of the night. Adrienne and I will be allowed to go in once an hour so we will be staying.
