Winter is here again. It only makes sense. We had winter in November, some spring in January and the first few days of February felt like Fall, so now its Winter again.
They predicted 3" of snow by 6:00pm last night and then about 8" by the time we got up this morning. I figured I would shovel at 6, then again before I went to bed and when I got up. At 6, there was nothing but wet. Before I went to bed there was a dusting on the grass but just wet on the pavement and cars. When I woke up this morning (I stayed in bed watching the super bowl stuff till almost 11:00) the sidewalk cleaner guy had already been by and there's about an inch on my steps and on the grass and cars. If the sun comes out it should take care of that. If not, I'll shovel tomorrow in time for the mailman.
I got a nice surprise when I opened the door to check the show. I had my first newspaper. I ordered the sunday paper (in lieu of TV Guide, which I hate) and the girl said it would start on the 12th, but it started today, Woo,hoo. I am very pleased that it was double bagged and not a bit wet.
I am also pleased with the City of Detroit for all the Super Bowl related activities they are putting on for the general public. There was a day that I would have wanted to be down there with my kids experiencing all that, but that day has passed for me. The TV coverage has shown lots of participation with no incidents. I figure that if local coverage is just hiding the bad stuff, it would come through in the national coverage anyways, so I believe it is pretty peaceful.
There is a guy named Bettis that is playing in the Super Bowl who comes from Detroit and a big fuss is being made over him and his family. I think that's great, and I'm going to root for his team to win as soon as I find out which team that is.

OK, I just found out that Bettis is with Pittsburgh so Go Steelers.
In my defense, everytime he appeared on TV he was wearing a Tiger uniform to promote the City. I guess asking him to appear in a Lion's uniform would have been asking too much.
I was just going to call Jonathan and find out.
We aren't getting any Superbowl stuff here. I wonder why! I too will route for the Steelers as long as they can do my numbers. If they can do the numbers and win, all the better.
You guys are so much smarter than my dad. he wants the Seahawks. GO STEELERS!
i bet you have heard of bettis before he is also known as the bus. he has been playing for a long time. i'm rooting for pitt but like erika i am rooting for my numbers. there was a shooting last night. did the local news cover that
