a very good weekend

In case y'all hadn't noticed from Erika's blogs, we had a very good weekend in Michigan. Mike and Mel arrived about 7:30 and after a brief stop at my house to pick up stuff, we headed up north. Gretchen did a good job of acting surprised. I got to see all of the room makeovers. Who would have guessed Gretchen could be a Suzie Homemaker.

It turned out someone was throwing Heather a surprise Baby Shower on Sunday and Erika and I crashed the party. It was a little embarrassing to come as an uninvited guest and walk away with a lot of their prizes. They had it at the local park. If any of you are familiar with that park, they have nice green hills. We should have a video of Mel rolling down the hill with Seanie (how is his name spelled anyways?)

I knew I wanted to take my family to Ponderosa for dinner but some of the food at the shower smelled so good, I had to try it. Then there were two kinds of cake so I had a small piece of each. Megan had nibbled and had some cake at the shower too. I didn't do justice to the buffet part of Ponderosa and Megan's comment was "I can't believe I was too full to get any desert." Gordon, however was in good form and did us proud. Even Jackson found a few things he would eat. Many of them tasted better after dipping them into Erika's chocolate ice cream. He seriously took pieces of bread and dipped into her ice cream. Then he moved on to other pieces of food he had laying around, some croutons, pieces of chicken and hamburger. We all thought it was way funnier than Erika did, it was after all, her ice cream.

Megan got to spend many many hours in the pool and practiced her mermaid skills. Jackson was fascinated to see her legs in the air. All the kids had a good time in the pool. It was nice to have that extra day on Sunday when the hotel was almost empty and our group were the only ones in the pool area.

Mike has been pretty quiet, but loosened up some playing with the kids in the park and in the pool.

Like I said, a very good weekend.

Oh yeah. I had already forgotten about the ice cream. The bread wasn't so bad but when I found the potato he had dipped in toward my last bite I was done. What a silly baby.
