Steph came over to swim today. She was feeling better than she had yesterday and we actually had a nicer sunnier day. She came with her friend Jen. Arn is working a lot.
I actually got a glimpse of the hidden benefits of a small piece of consistant upbringing. After she and Jen had been out of the pool for a while and were going back in, Steph took her towel and laid it out carefully on a lawn chair in the sun and asked her friend Jen "Don't you want to lay out your towel so it will dry?" My little heart went pitter-pat with pride. Her friend, of course, was having none of it and threw her towel on the nearest chair.
It really takes very little to make me happy.

Even when you think they are not listening to you, or they fight you tooth and nail, they are listening. I found that out with Gretchen's kids. And now with Jackson it is the same. I say "no" 6 million times in one day and he keeps doing what he is not supposed to be doing. The next day he goes to do it and says "no."
Let's just love them all.
