What a great job they did at the convention last night. I would vote for either one of them. Jimmy Carter was no slouch either. The commentators didn't even pick up on the parts of Bill's speech that I liked best. I loved the way he referred to "my tax cut" and how the republicans are protecting his money. He didn't say "Those fat cats are getting fatter." He said "Your government is giving me money." I don't usually watch conventions and always turn off political speeches but I happened upon Jimmy Carter while channel surfing and stopped to watch and kept coming back.

I'm sorry that I missed it. I just heard man on the street interviews by NPR near the Steel Mills and one of the guys said the joke around the plant is that Bush has created all these new jobs that he keeps talking about, but they are as hard to find as WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction) in Iraq.
The NYTimes picked up on his line about the tax cuts helping him (a wealthy ex-president). And their quote of the day was from Gore "I'll be candid with you. I had hoped to be back here this week under different circumstances, running for re-election. But you know the old saying: you win some, you lose some. And then there's that little-known third category."
