They said that the crowd would get on their feet for a match point at the first match point. I think I was standing for the rest of the match and cheering. I kept going to the front of the house to fill Adrienne and Adam in on his progress, but they were less than enthusiastic, so I took my cheers back to my room and woopped it up. Wow.
Gretchen and I were in our respective bedrooms. Gretchen came out several times to comment. The first time it was to say that Andre was asking for water. She had learned to lip-read that word because Gordon's Mom asks for that a lot. All of her other comments were either "I think he's going to win" or "maybe he's not going to win".
I got so spoiled watching Agassi last night that I really don't even want to watch tennis tonight. I'm saving up to watch Agassi again tomorrow night. (God willing)
I watched to the fifth set, when Agassi was down 4-1, and stopped watching because it was so late. I was amazed that he came back and am sorry that I missed it.
I watched the match thinking "this is the most incredible tennis I have ever seen" but knowing that I have not seen that much tennis. But when John McEnroe interview Baghdatis after the mathch he said "Thank you for the most incredible tennis match I have ever seen" I figured he's seen a few more matches than I.
I saw the replay and find that I must have been sleeping because there was no such thing as a 4-1 score. The drama from the cramping and pain gave this match an incredible suspense. It did show that, even when handicaped, a pro can still play very good. Agassi still looked rather fresh even near the end of the match.
ESPN said that later after the match while Andre was waiting for his car, he had to lay flat on his back on the cold hard sidewalk because he was in so much pain. So he wasn't as "fresh" as we think.

I haven't been watching my tennis lately like I should, but someone did mention Agassi this morning in class. Maybe I'll try to catch up later...
