Doctor, Doctor

Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment with my primary care physician to renew my maintenance prescriptions. Those include blood pressure medications and Celebrex for arthritis. However, he was not the doctor that could clear me for surgery. So I had another appointment today with his son who does Internal Medecine.

A couple days ago I mentioned to someone that I almost felt like a fraud for scheduling such drastic surgery when my pain had been tolerable for the last few days. Fast forward to this morning. Two days ago I had stopped (on surgeon's orders) taking any Vicodin, Celebrex or anything else containing aspirin or nsaids. I had a heck of a time getting out of bed. I could take tylenol except not then because I was fasting for blood work. I got myself to the doctor's office and sat in the waiting room, fighting back tears (and not always successfully). They took the blood, and EKG, and Xrays, then the doctor came in.

I told him my dilemma and asked him if I could maybe take Tylenol 4 which I used to take for back pain. He explained why not but said that it would be ok for me to take the vicodin as long as I didn't take more than one or two per day. I love this doctor. I took one on my way out to the car.

Me and Jeannette have a date to go to Windsor Casino on Sunday and I was supposed to treat her to a birthday lunch. All morning I was thinking of how disappointed she was going to be when I cancelled. Not because she needed the free lunch but she doesn't like to go to the casino alone and counts on me as a companion. Now that I can take a pain pill, with tylenol in between, I'm good to go.

By the way, I'm good to go for the surgery, too. The doctor said I tested perfect.

Yes, the surgery is at 9:00 AM on Friday October 26th. Adrienne is arriving on Saturday October 27th and will stay with me until
December 1st.

Who would have thunk while raising all those kids, they would provide me with so much help and companionship.

Lucky me.

Your children provide care and comfort, indicating that you provided so much love and understanding when they were growing up,that the love is reciprocated, and they would do anything and everything for you. Your nuturing has paid off big-time. You should be proud. Good luck with all and please keep us informed.

Good luck to you Paulette. God does give us good children, and they are there when you need them. Cheryl had a similar type of surgery when she broke her back last year, was in a brace for several months, but is doing great. Before you know it, you'll be back to dancing.
