Springtime Tulips

I had lovely tulips on the side of my house. Overnight they sprung almost full grown. Beautiful red tulips. Crap. I don't want to take care of any flowers. When I bought this unit, I made the lady pull up all the flowers and lay sod right up to the bricks.

Whoever laid the sod probably didn't even know those bulbs were down there and now they have presented themselves. Yes they are beautiful, yadda, yadda. But, in my case, beauty is in the eye of the caretaker and that makes them ugly to me.

I sent my resident daughter outside to pull them up and she did. The next morning I saw them sitting in my trash and could see about 20 buds waiting to open. So I called Jeannette and she offered to adopt the plant and put it in her backyard. Now when I look at them at her house, they can be beautiful again.

We have roses. We also have a gardener who is in charge of taking care of them. The problem is that the roses are all different sizes and colors. That would be ok if they were really close together and it was like a treasure hunt, but they are spaced very neatly to look manicured and they look instead like the bargain basement of odd assortments. My gardener could care less and every once in a while all the roses are suddenly gone, when he decides to trim everything. But at least I don't have to take care of them.

I think it is important to find out what makes you happy and then take action to make it happen. Getting the flowers off your property is admirable. Make your space a place you experience the greatest comfort.

Tulips and daffodils are the only things that come up around here. I find them lovely, but there is certainly nothing I am going to do to keep them coming up. They come up, they die, they go away. The non-yard work circle of life.
