I have already seen two (count them, two) dentists this morning. The first one cleaned my teeth and it was just as horrid as I expected, but I am done with her for another three months. The second one was the guy at the other end of the building that will get the tooth I broke in California fixed. That was just as horrid as I expected. The good part is I just leave them my store-bought teeth and I don't have to sit in the chair while they fix it. The bad part is they needed to take impressions; top, bottom and bite.
Now this was the interesting part. I don't know if I have just never had a bite impression done before or if they changed the way they do it. The girl came at me with what looked like a caulking gun and squeezed some ooze on top of my bottom teeth and told me to bite down. We held that position for a couple of minutes and then she removed a cute little rubbery bite impression.
The tension of sitting in those dentist chairs for so long has my back hurting like I have walked a couple miles. Anyways, I have to go back at 4 pm to pick up my fixed teeth.

Hey, at least you can leave them and walk away. I had a crown break and had to sit there through the whole thing. First waiting in the waiting room for 2 hours (they forgot I was there) and then another hour and a half in the chair. First 45 minutes waiting for the novicane to work. Talk about a stressed back! My whole body was thankfull to get out of there. Aannnd... they want you to pay for this experience!
I had a very nice dentist (never any pain), in Orlando, but I don't want to drive there every 3 months anymore. So I found a new one here, and guess what..they KNEW each other in the Navy. The new dentist, in looking over my history, said 'I know this guy, we served on the same ship for 3 years as their dentist!' What a coincidence.
Anyway, the other dentist had me taking a Periostat pill twice a day for my gums, and the new dentist said not to take any more of those pills; he's planning on 2 places (one at a time,I hope), 1 top place and 1 bottom place, to cut the gum, clean it out, and stitch it back up. He said that would resolve my bone loss problem in my gums. (I did fine just taking the pills, I don't know why they have to get fancy about this)
Se Le Vie!! (or whatever)
There was a time when the only reason to go to the dentist was to have a tooth pulled. Otherwise, the pain was endured (for tough guys) or various home remedys for toothache were used. What a great time we live in when our teeth last as long as they do with the help of dentists.
Well, I got my teeth back, all fixed, except that to take the pressure off the spot that broke, (it was the 2nd break there) he shortened my left lower canine (which is still my own). This involved about a minute of drilling and filing and I didn't holler once. I cried silently but didn't holler.
Then, to compensate the dredded sound of the drill, I heard a sweet sound before I left. The girl at the counter said "No charge"
