Red Leaves

When I moved in here winter had a strong toehold and most leaves were off the trees. Across the parking lot, about 4 doors down from me is a lovely large tree. It is the focal point of the view from my living room picture window. There were a small clump of branches on that tree that were clinging to some red leaves. I kept waiting for the leaves to fall. They never did.

All through the winter, through the snow and ice, winds and rain, those sturdy red leaves hung on. Then spring started to spring and most of the trees around here started to bud. This tree remained bare. When other trees were visably green, this tree started to bud.

Ah, I thought to myself, now those fragile red leaves will be pushed off by the new buds. I have been checking it faithfully every day. I search the ground beneath the tree for fallen leaves (from my easy chair, of course, I don't go outside and search). I've never found any.

The tree is quite green now, and because I know where to look I can pick out the red leaves. There they sit. Red leaves among the green.

I moved into my house in February. One of the first things I noticed was that the tree outside my bedroom window one day in early March was filled with white flowers. It was gorgeous. A few days later they were completely gone. The next few years I completely missed the white flowers. One year I saw just a few, but nothing like the first year. So this year, starting in February I started leaving my blinds open as much as possible to try to catch them. No luck. Mother Nature is a funny gal.

Why is there a little handicapped sign next to the word verification?

If you are visually impaired it will say the letters for you.

I clicked on the handicapped icon and it locked up my PC...had to reboot.

If one is visually impaired, whoud he/she be able to see that handicapped icon? How about the text in the blog? :-)
